Zodiacal Releasing is a time-lord technique preserved in Book IV of Vettius Valens. It releases zodiacally from a calculated Lot, assigning each sign the period of its traditional domicile ruler.
Choose the source Lot
- Release from Spirit to examine a chronology centered on actions and directed activity.
- Release from Fortune to examine a chronology centered on bodily and circumstantial matters.
- These are separate timelines. Stelliums never silently substitutes one for the other.
Read the three levels
Level 1 uses planetary years, Level 2 uses planetary months, and Level 3 uses planetary days. This governed version converts a year to 360 days and a month to 30 days, beginning from the stored natal Julian day in Universal Time.
Understand the bond jump
When a nested sequence completes all twelve signs while its parent period is still open, the next subperiod jumps once to the sign opposite the parent starting sign. The interface marks that discontinuity explicitly.
Governed worked example
Worked example: begin from the selected Lot
The fixture places Fortune in Capricorn and Spirit in Virgo. Releasing from Fortune therefore begins with Capricorn and its Saturn period; releasing from Spirit begins with Virgo and its Mercury period.
- Choose Fortune or Spirit explicitly and preserve that choice in the URL and evidence.
- Fortune Level 1 begins in Capricorn for its governed 27-year period.
- Spirit Level 1 begins in Virgo for its governed 20-year period.
- Derive nested levels with the documented 360-day year and 30-day month convention.
