Sect: Day Charts and Night Charts
A practical introduction to the Hellenistic distinction between diurnal and nocturnal charts and why planetary condition changes with sect.
Sect divides nativities into day and night charts according to whether the Sun is above or below the horizon. It is a condition framework: it changes how planetary testimony is weighed rather than replacing sign, house, rulership, or aspects.
The diurnal team
In a day chart, the Sun leads the diurnal sect with Jupiter and Saturn. Jupiter is the benefic of the diurnal sect and Saturn is the malefic of the diurnal sect.
The nocturnal team
In a night chart, the Moon leads the nocturnal sect with Venus and Mars. Venus is the benefic of the nocturnal sect and Mars is the malefic of the nocturnal sect.
What sect does not mean
A planet being contrary to sect does not make a person bad or a planet universally destructive. Sect is one condition among several. Domicile, house placement, configurations, motion, and other governed conditions still matter.
