Decennials is a planetary time-lord distribution described by Vettius Valens. One planet begins as apheta. Each major lord receives 10 years and 9 ideal months, then the next traditional planet in the actual zodiacal order of the nativity takes the same major span.
The 129-month clock
Stelliums valens-decennials-1.0.0 normalizes the source clock as 129 thirty-day months, or 3,870 days. Within every major period, the major lord begins the subordinate sequence and all seven planets follow in natal order.
- Sun: 19 months.
- Moon: 25 months.
- Mercury: 20 months.
- Venus: 8 months.
- Mars: 15 months.
- Jupiter: 12 months.
- Saturn: 30 months.
- Total: 129 months.
Choose the starting point visibly
Valens directs day births to begin from the Sun and night births from the Moon when the luminary is well situated. If both lights are badly situated, he begins from the planet following the Ascendant. “Well situated” belongs to a broader qualitative controlling-point judgment, so Stelliums displays the sect-light convention, the other luminary, and the Ascendant-follower alternative instead of silently certifying one.
Governed worked example
Worked example: frozen Dallas nativity
The frozen Dallas chart is a day nativity, so the workbench opens with the Sun convention. From the Sun at 295.3540° the zodiacal order is Sun, Venus, Jupiter, Moon, Mars, Mercury, Saturn. The first Sun major period subdivides in that same order for 19, 8, 12, 25, 15, 20, and 30 months, exactly totaling 129.
How to read the table
- Establish the nativity and sect before choosing an apheta policy.
- Record why the selected starting policy is being used.
- Read the major lord before its subordinate monthly lord.
- Inspect both lords in the natal condition, house-ruler, and configuration workbenches.
- Keep profections, returns, transits, and Zodiacal Releasing as separately calculated testimony.
